They’ll discuss their first-hand observations of the industry and describe the fascinating work going on.

TANGI MAYER

Business Development and Technical Account Manager, ESI France Tangi Meyer is responsible for the Business Development and Technical Key Account management French OEMs. Before joining ESI, Meyer led multiple R&D projects and teams for French national research agency, European Commission Research Framework Programs and European Space Agency research activities for startups and R&T companies. His expertise covers Augmented and Virtual Reality systems and their industrial applications. His educational background includes a Phd. in Computer Science/Virtual Reality and a Master degree in aerospace engineering.

 

JULIEN CASTET

Research Manager, Immersion Dr Julien Castet is Research Manager at Immersion since 2011. He received PhD degrees in Engineering of Cognition, Interaction, Learning and Creation from the Grenoble Polytechnic Institut. His research deals with human-computer interaction, from gesture to brain, and the use of physical simulation for enhancing interaction. His background allows him to deal with Interaction from a technological point of view but also from human point of view. He is involved as contributors or coordinator in European and National projects since ten years. He is the author of many publications, proceedings and talks, including several contributions to major Human Machine Interfaces conferences (TEI, IEEE VR, Journal of Interacting with Computers).

 

DR. SEBASTIAN KNÖDEL

Dr. Sebastian Knödel, Head of R&D at DIOTA Sebastian Knödel, studied computer science at Bauhaus University of Weimar in Germany. During his PhD at INRIA Bordeaux (France), he focused on research for efficient 3D interaction techniques with tactile interfaces for mobile systems. Since 2010, he is head of the Research and Development department at DIOTA in Paris. He is particularly interested in research regarding virtual and augmented reality, real-time rendering, as well as user interaction and interface design.

 

JEAN-COLAS PRUNIER

Creative Director, Crytek Jean-Colas has worked in the VFX industry for more than 20 years. Inspired by a conference in which John Lasseter the world famous Toy Story director presented his early CG short films from Pixar, Jean-Colas decided to join ExMachina the foremost CG animation studio in Europe in the early 90s. He then moved to the US to work on breakthrough hardware-accelerared 3D rendering technology before joining ILM and shortly afterwards Weta Digital New Zealand where he worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong and Avatar among other films. Jean-Colas joined Crytek to bring together his experience of film production and passion for innovation and digital technology to the making of a the next generation of 3D content creation application.

 

RENAUD DELIGNY

Specialist for the 3D engineering of Product & Process Design, Renault Renaud heads the deployment of several digital solutions for Renault Process Assembly Teams including interactive and immersive simulation systems and a process-oriented PLM system. Previously, Renaud worked in R&D at CEA France in the Interactive Simulation Laboratory. He has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Technology of Compiègne with a specialty in Human Media Interaction and Virtual Reality.

 

JON PEDDIE

President, Jon Peddie Research Graphics technology pioneer and industry analyst Jon Peddie will provide background data and an overview of the VR industry. He'll kick off a spirited discussion of the panel.
